Contest Rules

  1. Color Drawing – crayon, colored pencils, markers, oil pastels
  2. Black and White Drawing – pencil or charcoal
  3. Painting – acrylics, oils, poster paint, watercolor, etc.
  4. Textiles – weaving, fabric work
  5. Mixed Media – collage

Each year we invite students and very special artists in grades K5-12 to participate in Day in the Park's student art contest. Below you'll find information on the rules, categories and awards.

Day in the Park

Student Art Contest

  1. All entries must be checked in at the following:
    1. Where: St. John's Episcopal Church, Parish Hall, 541 North 5th Avenue, Laurel, Mississippi
    2. Dates: Wednesday, May 3rd or Thursday, May 4th
    3. Time: Between 3:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. 
  2. There is a limit of two (2) items of artwork per student. 
  3. There is a $3.00 entry fee per item of artwork.
  4. All artwork must have the artist's name, grade, school and medium labeled and placed on the back of the entry.
  5. Matted, backed and shrink wrapped entries are highly encouraged, though not required.
  6. No wood, glass or metal framed artwork will be accepted.
  7. All artwork must be collected by 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at Day in the Park.


Neither the Laurel Arts League, nor the City of Laurel, will be responsible for damaged or lost entries.

Grades 7-12
